Modified Windage Tray for 3800 Series II W-Bodys
The OEM windage tray on 3800 SII motors are incorporated into the oil pan gasket and provide a very important function in your oiling system.
As the motor is rotating the crank is channeled oil from the passages in the windage tray, which is then splashed up the cylinder walls for lubrication. Its a simple design that works but is far from ideal.
Part of the problem with this style system is once the oil reaches the cylinder walls and front cover it has a small drain area which can cause excessive oil build up at high RPMs. This build up can cause quite a bit of blow by and reduce engine performance.
Our modified windage trays help reduce this by opening passages to allow proper drain back.
Knife edging the openings of the passages also increases oil flow by feeding the crank more oil to the two outer cylinders which are starved with the OEM tray.
The reduction in oil blow by increases the life of your spark plugs and piston rings.
Months of testing have let us come up with a design that is optimal for any 3800 series II engine including stock vehicles.
We start with a brand new OEM replacement oil pan gasket and modify it in over 6 areas.
These are designed for 3800 Series II engines using steel oil pans.
Will Not work on Pontiac Bonneville, Buick Park Avenue Ultras using cast oil pans with built in windage trays.
